Walmart BFL Hoosier Division to host event on Lake Monroe

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Monroe April 30 for the first of five stops in the Hoosier Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Monroe is going to fish two different ways,” said Indiana National Guard pro Wes Thomas of Hanover, Ind. “The main-lake stuff will be chunk rock and big, long points, and if the water’s up, you’ll be able to fish the bushes. Or you could go up and fish a good prespawn bite with a jig or spinnerbait up in shallow cover.

“The recent rain will have the water level up,” Thomas added. “I think fishing will be really good, and there will be a lot of fish caught.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Cutright Ramp located at 4850 S. State Road 446 in Bloomington, Ind. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
